5 x The Duvet Coat

While searching for a new winter coat – one in the categorie ‘will even keep a person warm in Scandinavia, but doesn’t make it look like you’re on a skiing trip’ – I came across this trend which I call ‘duvet coats’. Coats inspired by bed linen.

Remember the ‘sleeping bag’-coat trend from a few years ago, coats which looked like you were wearing a sleeping bag? Well, the duvet-like coats have a pretty similar sleeping vibe. They look like you draped your duvet (without the cover) around you and went outside. Looking all warm and cozy. Here are five examples of the ‘wearable bed linen-trend’.

1. Summer duvets

COS has two versions in it’s fall collection and both look – based on the thickness – like summer duvets.

2. Bed sheets

This Comme des Garçon dress from the AW15 collection looks like it’s made out of bed sheets.

3. A black duvet

There are also versions for men, like this one from the Japanese menswear brand Julius.

Two years ago, Maison Margiela designed a duvet coat for the H&M x Maison Margiela collection. Blogger Aureta Thomollari put some ‘bed sheets’ around her duvet coat and made her own version.

5. The basic duvet

You probably thought it was impossible, but you can look sophisticated in a duvet coat. The most sophisticated looking duvet coat this season is this one from the AW15/16 collection of the Italian brand Ermanno Scervino.
